Overwhelming support for ‘fins attached’ in European Commission consultation
Posted on August 21, 2012
In 2010-11 The European Commission carried out a public consultation on options to amend the existing EU Finning Regulation – nearly two years after it pledged to strengthen the ban. The Shark Alliance with many others put its support behind requiring that fins remain naturally attached to shark bodies until fishing vessels return to port.
Many other conservationists, scientists, and individuals made contributions supporting a complete end to at-sea fin removal.
